Amsterdam's Latin Quarter
Rows of workers' housing went up here in the late 1800s, and today De Pijp is one of the busiest neighbourhoods in Amsterdam for eating and drinking. Its spine is the Albert Cuypstraat, where the Albert Cuyp market fills the street with stalls every day except Sunday. Sarphatipark gives the district a green heart, the Gerard Douplein turns into one long terrace on warm evenings, and the old Heineken brewery building, facing the Stadhouderskade, now draws a steady stream of visitors. Locals sometimes call the area the Latin Quarter, for its mix of cultures, kitchens and late cafés.

Hotels and apartments around De Pijp
Larger hotels sit mostly on the edges of the district, around the Stadhouderskade and the Singelgracht, while the inner streets hold smaller design hotels and a great many rented apartments. The Rijksmuseum and Museumplein are just across the water to the west, so guests often choose De Pijp for the museums and the food at once. De Pijp metro station, on the Noord/Zuidlijn beneath the Ferdinand Bolstraat, is handy if you are heading back late from the centre. Apartments are often on the upper floors of tall, narrow blocks behind a shared front door, so add the floor and flat number to your message.

Arrival time from De Pijp
With our De Pijp companions starting nearby, most bookings here reach you within the hour of confirmation. The streets form a grid rather than a tangle of canals, which helps, but the Ferdinand Bolstraat and the blocks around the market get crowded on weekend evenings, and bike traffic is heavy at every hour. Staying in Oud-Zuid, along the Amstel or on the southern edge of the centre? The drive from here is just as short, and we will give you a precise time in the chat.

After the terraces close
De Pijp is a residential neighbourhood as much as a nightlife one; people live above the cafés, and the streets quieten quickly once the bars shut. Our companions arrive the way any dinner guest would, unhurried and well dressed, which at midnight in De Pijp is exactly what half the street looks like.

What a night in De Pijp looks like
Evenings here tend to be sociable. A guest might start at a cocktail bar on the Gerard Douplein, share dinner in a small restaurant, then head back to the room while the terraces are still full. Molly, who likes craft cocktails and house music, fits that kind of night perfectly. Luna brings bold, modern glamour and a love of wine tasting, and Rosa is warm and easygoing, the right company for an unhurried evening in.
Neighbouring Oud-Zuid begins just past the museums, and the canal ring of Amsterdam Centrum sits just to the north over the Singelgracht. Everyone else on call is waiting in the gallery.
