Reading Your Confirmation Message Properly

A confirmation message carries more than a time. Here is everything it should include, and the handful of details worth checking before the evening actually starts.

More than just a time

A confirmation is the single message that turns a loose request into an actual, settled plan, and it carries more information than the arrival time alone. Reading it properly, rather than skimming for the hour, means the rest of the evening runs exactly as agreed rather than needing a follow up question later on.

None of what follows is unusual or complicated, it is simply worth knowing what to expect in that message so nothing about it feels like an assumption on either side.

What a complete confirmation includes

A proper confirmation message covers a short, consistent list of details, whatever the format of the booking.

For longer formats, one more line

An overnight booking carries one extra piece of information in its confirmation, an end time, usually somewhere around breakfast or your checkout hour, agreed the evening before rather than left open. A companion arriving for a long, quiet night in a calmer setting such as Oud-Zuid will already have that end time in mind before she even leaves, which avoids any uncertainty the next morning about when the visit is expected to wind down.

The same logic applies to any format with more than one moving part, a dinner reservation folded into the evening, a companion joining you at a venue first. The confirmation should mention each piece plainly rather than leaving one of them to be assumed.

What to check before she sets off

Once the confirmation lands, it is worth a quick read against what you actually wrote in your first message. The address should match exactly, the arrival window should sit inside the hours you have free, and the figure, if the booking runs longer than an hour, should be one you have actually agreed to rather than simply seen mentioned in passing.

If anything in the confirmation looks different from what you expected, a slightly later arrival, a detail about the entrance you had not mentioned, raising it immediately is far easier than sorting it out once she is already on her way.

A confirmation for a business evening

Bookings tied to a formal function, one of our business event evenings, often carry a slightly fuller confirmation, since the dress code, the venue and how you would like to be introduced all matter more than on an ordinary evening. Liana, among our brunette companions, is used to reading exactly this kind of detailed confirmation and arriving already prepared for it.

There is no harm in asking for that extra detail to be spelled out plainly if the evening genuinely needs it, a stricter dress code, a specific entrance for the venue, since a fuller confirmation almost always means a smoother evening once she arrives.

If the confirmation raises a question

Nothing in a confirmation message is final until you have read it and are comfortable with it. A quick question, about timing, about the figure, about anything else, gets answered before the evening moves any further, never after.

The booking page covers the full sequence this message sits inside, and the goal of a confirmation is always the same, nothing left to work out once the knock actually comes.

A confirmation you can reuse

For a straightforward hourly visit, a confirmation rarely needs revisiting once it lands, the details are settled and the rest of the evening simply happens as agreed. Keeping it handy is still worth doing, particularly if the plan shifts slightly or a second message is needed to add a floor number once you have actually checked in.

Guests who visit regularly often notice that later confirmations read almost identically to earlier ones, the same building, the same rough hour, a familiar rhythm rather than something re-explained from scratch each time. That consistency is deliberate, a confirmation is meant to be reassuring precisely because nothing about its shape changes from one booking to the next.

When two confirmations arrive instead of one

An evening built from two parts, a table booked before the visit itself, a companion joining you at a venue first, sometimes produces its confirmation in two short messages rather than a single long one, one covering the reservation side, the other the arrival at your address afterwards. Neither message contradicts the other, and reading them together simply gives you the full shape of the night.

If anything about the second message seems to assume something the first never mentioned, a quick question sorts it out immediately. Two shorter, clear messages are always easier to check than one dense paragraph trying to cover an entire evening at once.

There is no obligation to keep either message once the evening is over, but plenty of guests simply leave a confirmation sitting in the chat rather than deleting it, mostly as a quick reference for the arrival window or the figure without needing to ask again. Whether you keep it or clear the thread the moment the visit ends, a future booking always starts from a clean first message regardless of what happened on any earlier one.

Asked before setting off

What if the confirmed time doesn't quite suit me?

Say so straight away. Adjustments are easy to make provided there is a stretch of the evening left before she would otherwise set off, and a different window is usually simple to arrange.

Does the confirmation include the exact figure for longer bookings?

Yes, anything past the first hour is quoted on request and included in the same message, so there is nothing left to work out once the evening begins.

Should I reply to confirm I've read it?

A short yes is helpful, mostly so we know the details are agreed on your side too, but it is not a formal requirement beyond a simple acknowledgement.

What if I need to change the address after confirming?

Message the corrected address the moment you know it. Provided she has not yet set off, it slots straight into the plan without needing to restart the conversation.
