Salsa taught Jasmin to count in eights, and she still does it on the back seat, fingertips tapping her clutch while canal lights smear past the window. One, two, three, hold. By the time the driver pulls in outside your hotel she has danced a whole song in her head and is ready for whatever the next number turns out to be.
The mirrored lift gives a quick preview on the way up: a petite woman of 160 cm, long chestnut brown hair falling perfectly straight, brown eyes bright with a joke she has not told yet. She is 22 and every bit of it sparkles. Flirtatious in a light, teasing way. Curious about absolutely everything, from the view out of your window to the book on your nightstand. Bubbly enough to warm a formal suite in minutes. Her look is playful boutique-hotel chic, a flash of red lace here, a crisp white piece there, charm everywhere.
Perfume is the second obsession. She wears a different scent for different moods and will ask which note you caught first, because your answer tells her plenty. She has been known to change fragrance three times before leaving home and to insist, laughing, that the third was the one. Then comes mixology: the frost on a shaker, the twist of peel, the small ceremony of a properly stirred drink. She holds strong views on the ideal negroni and will share them whether you asked or not. Michelle is equally devoted to a well-made cocktail, should you ever want a rival opinion.
Most nights her journey begins in Amsterdam Centrum, which puts the hotels around Dam Square and the Nine Streets just a few blocks away. Her English is fast, funny and full of exclamation marks. Evenings with her start from €180 per hour, with every longer option explained on the rates page. Listen for quick footsteps in the hallway, then a knock with a Latin beat in it, then a grin as the door swings open.

Her kind of evening
A night out with Jasmin
On a count of eight, her ideal night: one, a negroni made properly somewhere in the centre; two, the bartender interrogated, kindly, about his ratios; three, the ride to you with a new perfume on and a private bet about whether you will notice. Four through seven are dancing, even if the dance floor is only the space between the minibar and the window. Eight is the part where she finally sits down, shoes off, and asks you everything.
She will want to know which scent note you caught first, what music you secretly love, and whether the bar downstairs deserves a second visit. Expect laughter well past midnight and a salsa step taught badly on purpose, so the lesson takes longer.
In her own words
Jasmin, in her words
Cocktail upstairs or downstairs?
Downstairs first, so I can judge the bar. Upstairs after, so I can improve on it. Have limes ready if you want to impress me.
Will you teach me salsa?
Obviously. You only need to survive the first eight counts, and I have never lost a student yet. Hotel carpet counts as a dance floor, by the way.
Which perfume tonight?
That depends on the weather and my mood, in that order. Guess the first note correctly and I will tell you its name.
